Description |
This Abney Level is made from brass and, thus, quite heavy. It features an extending eyepiece, a tubular level (viewed through the square telescope tube), a slow motion screw and a viewing magnifying glass for the half-circle. The latter is graduated in 1 degree intervals. The main scale is read with a vernier graduated in 5 minutes of arc intervals. The tubular telescope has a 20 x 20 mm square cross section. It features a horizontal wire for pointing to the target. There are two auxiliary scales on either side of the zero. These scales have to be read with the corresponding edge of the vernier scale. Graduated in 1:x with x values from 1 to 10 (1:1 = 45 degree slope). Engraved 'Stanley London' and, smaller, "Made in England". |
