Description

According to a son in law (C. Mills) of the manufacturer (John Rushton), this Vernier Height Gauge is made of 'gauge steel', a high carbon steel hardened and tempered in oil. The instrument was generally used in conjunction with a surface plate and a sriber to mark (scribe) the height of a work piece.

 

History & comments

The company of Grey & Rushton was formed in 1941 and continued production of inspection tools until about 1967 at their premises at 93 Far Gosford Street, Coventry and Clinton Street, Leamington Spa.
